Far beyond the skyline, where all birds fly
And the land of colors, only butterflies find
A mile from the peaks where rainbows die
There are black skies where blood moons arise

The whispers of the beauty of a raven princess
Bound all the lands, all of light and darkness
“Enchantress,” some called her after strangers
Little did they know of her, aside from fiction

A cheery little girl who had the sun in her chest
And golden hair that danced with the slow wind
With delicate feet that had walked across the plains
Were pieces of her diamond past that were unsaid

Dark knights with armors of silver and their swords
Burned down the villages of the helpless for sport
Ripped off the coverings of women done no wrong
Chopped off the heads of men who stood up as walls

“Always be brave,” as her mom had taught her
She held her sword in her burning anger
Piercing a hundred who had cut her people
Until her strength faded into darkness

Six blood moons rose on the last summer’s eve
A fortnight after her wounded skin had healed
A witch reached the dungeon that secreted she,
And blessed her with the curse of the raven of grave

Her golden locks turned black in the blink of a thought
Her skin turned pale as if she were sleeping with ghouls
Her sun heart was tied with spells that were stones
She was bound to the power in exchange for her soul
